Petoi & Unitree: Don’t Misunderstand Robot Pets

Robot Dog has become a trending topic recently, while some so-called dog owners were hanging out with the “smart dog” in the public.

What a robot dog can do? Running together? Help to take express delivery? Give a warm welcome when home, and importantly, react like a real dog, that’s, responds to touch, barks sings, dances chases fun activities, etc. Or, it can be not only a pet, instead, it can be such as a security guard, a goalkeeper, a baby sister, a sniffer dog, etc. Compared to real dogs, the robot dog does not need food, no poo, no sick, and one of the most important things is, it won’t get hurt and die forever.

Many engineers are working hard on robot dogs AI techniques, aiming to make the robot dog play a more important role in our daily life. Let’s get back to the pet role, do you think the robot dog can replace a real dog, even if it can be docile and not bother you when you’ve had a hard day at the office, or it is jumping around and trying to give you love when you come home cheerful?

The answer is complicated. If you treat a dog as a toy, then, of course, the robot dog would be another smart toy. But if you treat it as a life, a family member, or a friend, then definitely, a dog is s dog, not a toy, since he or she is emotional, unpredictable, and full of love, which is not able to be programmed instead.Anyway, today we would like to introduce two robot pet brands, that’s Petoi and Unitree, both of which are from China.

And the price also indicates that it is not a pet, it is a technology, namely $2700 -$3500 for Unitree Go1, while $12999 for the arm (Unitree Z1).
